Tech founder emigration routes: into the US, or out of it
I've long noticed that emigration flows among tech founders split into two tracks:
— Those who want to move to the US
— Those who want to move out of the US
Peter Thiel — from California to Miami, and now even further
Peter Thiel talked about this recently in an interview with Joe Rogan.
- During covid, Thiel, like many others, moved from California to Miami in search of life's simple pleasures: lower taxes and simpler laws. The weather's not bad either.
- Now he wants to move even further out of the US, wisely noting that the grass is always greener elsewhere, and that simpler countries come with their own set of problems: free speech (ha, as if the US has that), safety, and so on. He's eyeing New Zealand and Costa Rica (an ocean view is evidently a shortlist requirement).
